Fishing tales, our acreage and my three boys.....

Good day all.....Hope this not finds everyone well...Enjoying a nice sunny day here in the North...Sort of Spring like weather...Other than the snow we got yesterday...My hubby has been fishing and has caught some nice size perch...he lost his jigging rod the other night....Jesse was out with him and he was very busy with the tip ups and Jesse needing his mittens put on and his rod must have had a bite and he went running as it quickly slid down the hole....Needless to say he got a soaker trying to get it and no luck....lol...Soooo...He had to rig up another rod and he is back in business.....Well we are going to be official owners of 99 acres on Monday..Very exciting...We hope in the future to build a house there...In the meantime we hope to put in a driveway and I think a little cabin...It is only about 5 minutes away from where we live now...So not too far to move...Momma likes that...It is on the other side of the lake that we live now and is supposed to be prime moose and deer feeding area...It will neat to have the animals in our backyard...My hubby likes that for other reasons....:)..the avid hunter that he is...So in the future we hope to build a house there....So exciting...Well just wanted to post a few pictures I have taken lately and until next time...

Good Morning...It was a crisp -15 here in the North last night...BRRRRR.....Its supposed to be Spring ...Last time I checked anyways...:)...Just wanted to post a few pictures of the boys and myself in some pics...These are rare as I am usually the one taking the pictures ..But my sister in law was snapping some with her camera and she took some of me and my little dudes...

The house is very quiet...

Good Evening all...Hope you are all enjoying a nice long weekend so far...The house is very quiet ..We had 5 boys here for a few days and now there is two....My guys are wondering where their playmates went...lol...They just love their big cousins ..They got lots of fishing in and caught a large amount of perch ..I think about 30-40 ..Jerry is going to go and smoke them in his smoker at home...He says that is yummy...I have not acquired a taste for fish..I did cook a venison roast this past week for everyone and tried it and actually can admit that it was good...Tasted just like beef and was very tender...I did look up a marinade for venison and marinated it overnight...My hubby was very excited and proud of me for cooking and eating it...lol..I am slowly trying new things and getting used to this Northern life...lol..I said yes one new thing a year..lol..Well we had an awesome week visiting and the kids had a blast fishing and riding on the 4 wheeler...Here are some pictures of the past week....The Pennings cousins...They were here over the weekend with Mom and Dad

These are some black and whites of the kids..I was trying out my new features on my digital...You bring out one colour and the rest is black and white...Kind of cool..Uncle Jerry, Cousin Wyatt, Jesse and Owie chillin.....Cousin Jared and Owie....Wyatt patiently waiting for the fish to bite......lolThe ice fishing gang...Will jigging for some serious fish....Sergeant they called him.....lolThe gang again..Looking pretty cold....It was very windy that day...And the end result...A bag full of perch and a proud little boy.... Ice fishing has officially come to a close in the Dehaan household...So my hubby says...But perch is still open..So you never do know...Well we had some great family time and until next time..Take care....

Fun times with our company.....

Hello all...Been a busy last few day...It is a mild +2 here today...Things are a meltin....lol...The lake is getting quite mushy..We were out fishing and caught about 11 perch tonight....We had Janet, Wim and kiddies here on the weekend...(Wills sister and hubby)...We had a really nice time and they had fun fishing and riding the 4 wheeler( hey Jan)...lol...We had a really nice visit...We now have Jerry, Deb and children( Wills oldest brother and wife..) here...They have got lots of fishing in and caught lots of perch the last few days...We are having lots of fun...It was a bit colder the beginning of the week ...But now is milder...Spring is definitely in the air..We are having a night out tomorrow night to John and Beths for a visit..And the big kids are babysitting the little kids..So anyhow the Dehaan household is bustling...Jesse and Owen have been having so much fun with all their cousins...Its so nice for them to have some playmates..Well I will post some photos in the next post of the kiddies and their cousins...Until next time....

Our New Digital Camera.....

Good Evening...It is about - 8 tonight and snowing....A little windy as well...Winter is still here...Daddy and Jesse went fishing tonight for a few hours and caught 1 perch..That's all folks...Well as I had mentioned in previous posts we got a new digital camera and I have been practising on the boys all day...They are saying " Cheese"..Really good now...I was trying to learn a little about some of the different functions and how to use them...Here are some of the pics...This is the black and white feature and it brings out a colour...Green was the colour..Not sure how to change the colour...Still reading up on that...Owie in the tub...Jesse with his rose cheeks after ice fishing...He is having his granola bar after a hard night of fishing....Owen in the tub..With his wild hair...He just loves the tub...he stays in so long he is wrinkly...lolOwie and his big toothy grin...lolDaddy and Owen intently playing with their toys.....lolMy sweet cheeks little man....love this picture...Hard to believe he is almost 4.... Well that is my first pics with my new camera...I think I am going to have lots of fun with this camera...I love to take pictures and scrapbook....I am excited...Well hope that you are all well this evening..We are having some company this weekend...So I will post some ice fishing photos....Until next time....

Ice fishing dreams.....

Good Evening you all...It is a crisp - 10 here is the North...Well ice fishing here is coming to a close on Saturday...It is now the 3rd Saturday of March ...Used to be the 31st...But we can still fish for perch until the end of the month...But the lunkers as my hubby would say (the pickerel) have to be catch and release...So a photo is going to have to do if a really big one is caught after the 15th...lol..Well Will and Nandor( our good friends from church) went out on Callander Bay yesterday and caught a pike and a few perch..Tonight we had friends over and they caught 5 perch..No big pickerel..The neighbor hut last night caught a 7 lb pickerel...So that's my fishing update for all those who care....lol...Not sure what we are going to do when the ice melts....Maybe our basement will get done....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....Hunting season is a while yet....At least we have a break...lol..I do enjoy all the northern activities as well..And having two little boys who I can see already are going to follow in their fathers footsteps for loving the outdoors ..I do not have a choice but to join them in the fun..I am looking forward to Spring..Well Summer for that matter...Because we are going to be a little muddy around here this Spring as all our grass was dug up last year for the basement and its going to be MUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!..The boys will LOVE it...Not MOM...lol..And we have to get through black fly season as well before its truly summer...But I will take the weather on the + side that is for sure....Well I got my new camera and now just have to learn how to operate it...Will post some pics soon...Well until next time...

It has been too long..!!!

Good Morning....Time does get away on us....We here in the North are well...We have had about 3 weeks of colds, ear infections...etc...etc..No fun...I guess that is why I have not posted for quite some time...Busy....Busy...We are all on the mend...hopefully...Daddy was the only one to escape the bugs...Owen started when we were in Southern Ontario visiting family...He came down with a fever and cold and then it was Jesse and then Momma followed suit...Oh well..That is all part of winter ..I guess...Looking very forward to Spring...We are supposed to have some warmer weather here later this week...Well warmer...+3 and rain...So Spring like conditions...But living in the North now for a few years now I know winter is not quite over...But we do now start to get some warmer day...So Hurray for that...!!!!! We are having some company this weekend...Wills sister, hubby and kiddies are coming to visit and do some ice fishing..We are also hosting the visiting Pastor and his wife from our church as well..So the Dehaan household will be bustling this weekend...Will be fun...We had a bunch of friends come over and go ice fishing last Friday..We had a little skating rink shovelled and the kids played hockey and skated...It was a lot of fun...Well hope all is well with everyone and until I post again (which will be much sooner )...I am getting my new digital camera this week ..So I am going to try it out...Will post some photos....Until next time...
